This is the kind of commentary I come to the JB blog for. I would think that a speaker could attain the appearance of neutrality with the language of the prayer itself, but I respect his pulling out. Your post is slightly misleading on his lack of major-party political affiliation -- the linked story says he was a registered republican until last week.
